Where Did My Eyelashes Go, RapidLash?

So a couple of months ago I wrote a post on how great my eyelashes were looking after 3 months of using Rapidlash. Sadly, that was in the past. I noticed a few weeks ago while taking off my make up at night that my nice long eyelashes started to fall out. Some nights as many as 4-5 ended up in the sink to my horror. And this is how my eyelashes are looking now (well on the 18th February to be precise):

While they are still longer and thicker than they were when I initially started using RapidLash, they are nowehere near how they were after 3 months of usage. Here it is for comparison:

I know eyelashes fall out and re-grow all the time, but I was expecting to see so many fall out at once. I also found that more fell out from my right eye than left one, so my eyelashes are looking a bit silly at the moment. Not a massive difference, but I can definitely see it. So why did it happen? I have no idea. I'm also not sure if I should continue using RapidLash or not. At one point I was scared all my eyelashes will fall out, although luckily they didn't and I noticed I had lots of new stumpy ones instead of the long ones. But the thing is, I don't really want to end up with wonky eyelashes in another 3-4 months' time. Also having to fork out £41 on a tube that gave me longer eyelashes for a few months, just to be back to square 1 (okay, 2), is not really great. I thought once I've achieved a nice length and thickness, I can maintain it with 2-3 applications a week, but now I have to do it daily again to re-grow my new stumpy lashes. While I'm not keen on going back to my original lashes (they do look tiny in the comparison photos), I'm also not happy to have to go through losing and re-growing my lashes every 4-5 months. Sigh.

Has this happened to anyone else? Let me know in the comments!

And finally pictures of my left eye. The lashes here are looking a bit better, but since the pictures were taken, more have fallen out.

  1. I have used Lipocils and Revitalash and they all have one thing in common- you must not be lazy and stop applying them! My lashes didn't fall out or anything (or I supposed they did, but at the normal rate) but I noticed that once I stopped using the products, they just went back to their normal pre-product state. It's best to apply once or twice a week to maintain the results. Perhaps your lashes fell out from excessive rubbing during makeup removal? Do you use a lash primer? I know from personal experience that my mascara is easier to remove when I use a lash primer (I used MAC's Prep and Prime Lash) underneath.

    1. I didn't stop using RapidLash, I went down to about 2-3 times a week to maintain growth. I also didn't excessively rub my eyes, no more than I would normally do.

  2. I have heard other people complaining about this. Apparently because they growth cycle is 4 weeks and you're treating them all and the new growth all comes at the same time, then they all drop out at the same time unfortunately :(

  3. Well, I'm using Rapidlash for about year and a half now and my lashes have never been longer and stronger then they're now. That's really strange, it shouldn't make your lashes fall so much.. :(

  4. I have been using Rapidlash for 9 months and saw a massive improvement in my eyelashes. However last month i ran out of product and stopped using it for a while. After about 3 weeks i started experiencing the exact same symptoms as you have described. The eyelashes on my left eye had begun to fall out with much smaller lashes in their place... even smaller than my original natural eyelashes before using the product. I panicked and bought the product again as I’m afraid they will continue to fall out and I will end up with smaller lashes than I ever had or that they will completely fall out. I'm not happy to continue using the product and am considering stopping completely in the hope that they will return to normal… but I’m not sure will this work. I'm wondering whether you stopped using the product and whether your eyelashes returned to their normal cycle? Please help I am freaking out!!!

    1. Sorry to hear you've experienced this. My eyelashes just went back to pre-Rapidlash size (which is admittedly tiny), maybe you just think they are smaller because you are now used to the bigger size. Don't worry, your lashes won't all fall out, and they will probably return to their usual size. Since I wrote this post, I've restarted using Rapidlash every night and I have nice long lashes again (well, compared to their usual size anyway). I've decided I'd rather spend money on Rapidlash and put up with the lash fallout-regrowth than go back to stumpy lashes. Hope it works out well for you. x

  5. Sorry to hear you're having issues with Rapidlash. I didn't experience lashes falling out until after several weeks of using it, although I know that your lashes do fall out periodically anyway. I wonder if maybe you're noticing it more because you're looking out for them? If that makes any sense. Perhaps stop using it for a while and see if it helps, and then start again and you'll know if it was the Rapidlash causing them to fall out or not. Hope this helps.

  6. I have been using Rapidlash alongside Rapidbrow for the past 5 weeks and just today I noticed one on my cheek and then 5 on the cotton pad I used to remove my makeup!
As a previous poster also commented, my lashes very rarely fell out before using this product.. I really hope this doesn't continue or I'll be lash-less!
I think I'll continue to use RL twice a week but try to wean my eyelashes off it by using a natural lash conditioner for the other days - some kind of castor oil formula..
I'm now wondering if the lash fallout is to do with the drying effect RL has on eyelids.. I've found them to be quite itchy and a recent skin scan showed that the eye area was particularly dehydrated. Worth a thought!

    Good luck everyone!

  7. Thanks to everyone who posted! I had been considering buying RapidLash and these comments made me decide to stick to what I have : )
I have been using a Lancome Mascara that promotes lash growth, it works quite well, even if you don't always use it.
Castor Oil is supposed to be really good to grow lashes more by the way.

Thanks again to all of you

  8. I had the exact same problem , loads of lashes would fl out at the same time resulting in gaps , which I never experienced pre rapidlash , I've slowly cut out the treatment and to be honest my lashes look better ! I'm not gonna repurchase after repurchasing maybe 10 times

  9. I've been using for about a year & a half. When I first started using it ,I got results within a month. Then after I got the second bottle which, by the way had changed some, I started noticing a difference in growth. Not at all the way it was when I started using. Just googled some of the websites & comments. Noticed other remarks, too. That an ingredient was changed that may have been the major "growth" ingredient. All in all, I have had no problems, only that new werum is not working on me!!!

  10. Mine did exactly the same with Rapidlash and with using Revitalash previous to that. A couple of months of fab lashes and then all falling out over a couple of weeks, usually at a the worst time just before a wedding or something. It seems to weaken the bulb or something at the root of the lashes. Really disappointing!

  11. I'm experiencing the exact same thing. First few months I was delighted. Got lots of compliments. Now they are stubby in places with random longer ones and a gap in one place. Had already bought my second tube but scared to use it now.

  12. Iiik, this is exactly what happened to me! I used RapidBrow for 3 months, then when I discontinued in February I suddenly lost about all my eyebrow hair within weeks. So horrible! I started using it again (really shouldn't have, but didn't know what to do), and the grew back, then when I stopped using it in May - voila! I lost it all again. I also got Blepharitis on my eyelids and lost quite a bit of eyelashes. I thought (hoped!) that it would all be fine with treatment for the bleph, but now 3 months after discontinuing RapidBrow, I am still experiencing some abnormal hair loss. I also feel like the skin around my eyes are itchy. I am so worried. Will this go back to normal? Does anyone have any similar experiences? I would be so thankful for any advice or anyone sharing stories. Hope everyone is better.
